Volunteer Program

The Links at Crystal Lake will be offering a volunteer program this season that will allow volunteers to play golf for FREE!

The main position we are looking to fill is golf ranger, which requires one to maintain the flow of golf carts and movement around the course. However, other duties will be requested and may consist of the following:
• Monitor speed of play and take necessary action to correct any problems
• Handle complaints from the public and report them to the proper channels
• Repair ball marks and divots on the course
• Pick up trash on the course (general maintenance)
• Maintain water coolers on the course
• Clean golf carts as they are returned
• When needed, act as starter and control flow of traffic on the first tee
• Assist where needed around the course and/or in the pro shop

• General knowledge of the methods and practices used in golf course operations
• Must be confident when interacting with golf course guests and effectively handle issues on the course that slow the speed of play
• Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive working relationships with employees, other volunteers, course guests and the general public
• Ability to prepare reports and keep records according to course procedures
• Must be polite, friendly, and have positive interpersonal skills
• Must be responsible, dependable, and timely

• Ability to work under all weather conditions such as rain and extreme high or low temperatures
• Must be able to lift, bend and carry water coolers weighing up to 20 pounds
• Must be able to exercise proper caution when moving about course to avoid disturbing guests’ golf experience and to prevent being hit by golf balls
• Dress code includes collared shirts (supplied by the course), khaki shorts or pants, and closed toe footwear. Clothes must be clean and wrinkle-free. Headwear is allowed but must be approved by manager.

• The course is open every day during the season from dawn to dusk. Volunteers will be asked to work a maximum of 18 hours a week. Hours will vary.
• For every 6 hours worked, the volunteer will be granted 2 free rounds of golf (18 holes with cart) that can be used at any time and by any person. So if you would like to bring a friend, you are welcome to do so.*
• Volunteer will be held accountable for time missed. If volunteer is absent from scheduled hours more than 2 times, he/she will no longer be considered for volunteer duties.
• If more than 2 complaints are made about the volunteer, either by coworkers or guests, the volunteer will no longer be considered for duties. This includes not keeping up with duties outlined in the “responsibilities” section above. Complaints/warnings will be recorded by the acting manager and discussed with volunteers promptly.

Limited space is available, if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email us at

*Free golf cannot be used on weekends/holidays before 2:00pm or when golf course is closed due to an event. Tee-time is required.
